HOW TO POST AN IMMIGRATION BOND
Who to Contact:
To post an immigration bond you should contact the closest U.S.
Immigration & Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) office. In Los Angeles
the closest I.C.E. office is located at:
300 N. Los Angeles St.
Room 7621 (Detention & Removal Operations)
Los Angeles, CA 90010
Bond Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 pm. (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
& Friday)
Note: On Thursdays only bonds are posted at room 2204
How to Post a Bond:
There are two ways to post a bond:
1. U.S. Postal Money Order/Bank Cashier's Check
2. Through a Surety Company (Surety Bond)
Procedure for Full Amount Cash Bonds:
When posting a bond, you must bring with you the full amount of the
bond required.
Cash bonds are only accepted in the following forms:
- U.S. Postal Money Order
(Paid to: Department of Homeland Security)
- Bank Cashier's Checks
(Paid to U.S. Department of Homeland Security)
- U.S. Bonds or Notes
No Cash , Personal Checks, Credit Cards, or Property Deeds
will be accepted by I.C.E. to pay a bond
Who Can Post a Bond:
Anyone 18 years. or older, who presents proper identification and
valid social security number may post a bond.
What to Bring With You:
1. The Original Immigration Judge's Order (The one given in
Immigration Court)
2. The person paying the bond must bring Identification.
Acceptable Forms of Identification
-Permanent resident Card
-Passport with Appropriate Stamps
-Valid Driver's License/State I.D.
-State Identification with proof of immigration status
What Information is Required for Posting a Bond:
-Alien Name
-Alien Registration Number
-Alien's Home Address
-Alien's Date of Birth
-Alien's Country of Birth
-Bond Amount
-Name & Address of Person Posting the Bond
-Valid Social Security Number of Person Posting the Bond
-Valid Telephone Number of Person Posting the Bond
-Acceptable Form of Identification
How Do I Receive a Refund for An Immigration Bond:
- If the alien is granted permission to stay in the U.S. bring the
Immigration Judge's Order to the local I.C.E. office to obtain a
refund.
- An Immigration Bond will likely be cancelled if the alien does not
appear for all of his court hearings, or if he fails to return to
his country by the deadline set by the court, if the alien is not
allowed to remain in the U.S.
